PMI's Mission Statement

Since its inception in 1987 as the National Institute of Flexible Manufacturing (NIFM), this organization has been involved in developing a skilled workforce for the manufacturing industry. The mission of PMI is to “provide hands-on training in a wide range of skills utilizing modernized equipment, employing the newest technology, techniques and methods to enable companies and individuals to improve their productivity. Further, Precision Manufacturing Institute will create a pathway that will enable individuals to apply hands-on training credits toward an Associate or Baccalaureate Degree.”
While remaining a shared-use teaching facility, PMI trains individuals from a variety of backgrounds: the beginner or novice, those who are unemployed or under employed, and high-end tool makers. PMI provides training on equipment which uses the latest in manufacturing technology. PMI believes that with its diploma and certificate programs, they can emphasize education, attitude, attendance and safety to provide a skilled individual capable of becoming a dedicated and knowledgeable employee.
The courses/programs at PMI are developed in direct response to the needs of the manufacturing industry and provide the basic skills and knowledge that employers feel are necessary for a marketable employee.
