History of PMI
The training organization now known as Precision Manufacturing Institute first began training students in the manufacturing industry in 1987, when it was known as the National Institute of Flexible Manufacturing (NIFM). Conceived and developed by local industry representatives and tool shop owners, the mission of the organization was to provide manufacturing training to incumbent workers.
NIFM evolved into PMI on November 25, 1998. PMI became a private licensed school with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2000 and was nationally accredited by ACCSCT (Accrediting Commission for Career School and Colleges of Technology) in 2004. In 2005, PMI became eligible to participate in Federal Student Aid programs.
