Accelerated Training at PMI
Accelerated Training is just what it means……a faster way to get focused training.
What is Accelerated Training?
Accelerated Training Programs are focused contextual learning programs that concentrate all time and effort into the related field of study. In other words, you get the STUFF without the FLUFF. No time is wasted on useless theory and out-dated methods of manufacturing.
How is this accomplished?
PMI's class size is very limited for an accelerated program. For example, the Accelerated Grinding Program takes a maximum of seven students and each student has their own machine to operate. There is no waiting in line to use the machinery. Precision tooling is utilized as much as possible. For example, PMI uses Brown and Sharpe .000050 (50 millionths) indicators, Starrett Pink Granite surface plates, Acu-rite digital readouts and other tools that are utilized by most shops. PMI's method of instruction is a multi-step process to enhance learning by demonstration and practice techniques.
How is Accelerated Training better than traditional training methods?
With traditional training programs, you get a little spackling of everything but usually not enough of one specific area of training. Our programs focus only on the typical knowledge, skills, and abilities of specific job classifications in the tooling industry, i.e., Precision Surface Grinder, CNC Programmer/Operator, and EDM operator.
How was this developed?
PMI has spent considerable time and effort in developing our programs with small focused groups of incumbent workers from tool and die shops. We started out training only incumbent workers and recently branched out to include entry-level training programs. The accelerated programs have been "Industry Tested" to remain in focus with what employers need.
What programs are available and long do they?
Accelerated CNC Lathe- 280 hours - 9 weeks full-time (8 hours/day)
Accelerated CNC Milling- 280 hours - 9 weeks full-time (8 hours/day)
Accelerated CNC Wire- 280 hours - 9 weeks full-time (8 hours/day)
Accelerated EDM - 280 hours - 9 weeks full-time (8 hours/day)
Accelerated Grinding - 520 hours - 17 weeks full-time (8 hours/day)
How frequently are they run?
Usually the programs are run with just a few weeks interval between them. This way a student can reserve a spot and not wait until next spring or fall to start the program. Call PMI for specifics on when the next programs start.
Is there job placement after the program?
PMI is not an employment agency and therefore does not provide specific job placement. Many companies will call for graduates and we will make recommendations when possible. PMI will also update or develop your resume when requested. |
